Al Horford credits Celtics fans for assist in Game 1

Al Horford

Al Horford credited Boston Celtics fans for playing a big role in helping the team in their Game 1 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday.

Boston got out to an early lead and continued to apply pressure on Cleveland, winning 108-83. Horford, who had 20 points, four rebounds and six assists, praised the Celtics fans for helping with the environment.

“I thought we were great. We came out with a lot of energy. We definitely fed off the crowd. Our crowd was great tonight, and we just kept it going throughout the game,” Horford said in his postgame interview with ESPN’s Doris Burke.

Everything went Boston’s way in the game. They shot 51.2 percent compared to 36 percent for Cleveland. They had 60 points in the paint compared to 38 for the Cavs. And the Cavs were held to just 15.4 percent on 3-point shooting. The Celtics are now up 1-0 in the series and will host in Game 2 on Tuesday.
