Amar’e Stoudemire writes farewell poem to New York
After five seasons with the Knicks, Amar’e Stoudemire’s time with the team has come to an end as the two have reached an agreement to buy out the remainder of the six-time all-star’s contract, making him a free agent once he clears waivers.
On Monday, the 32-year-old took the opportunity to thank Knicks fans and the city of New York. Via his Instagram account, Stoudemire wrote:
NY NY what a beautiful city
A place where you can hang out with Anna, JayZ & DiddyIts a place absent of excuses and patience
If your smart, you can meet leaders of every nationNY NY big city of dreams
Everything in NY isnt always what it seemsIn the land where the jungle is concrete

Unfortunately, injuries have caught up with Amar’e Stoudemire. However, his impact on the Knicks turning around a dreadful period shouldn’t be forgotten. Stoudemire arrived in 2010 and helped New York return to the playoffs for the first time since the 2003-2004 season. Carmelo Anthony said upon hearing of the news of the buyout that Amar’e is one of the main reasons he’s a New York Knick today.
As for where Stoudemire will end up, the Mavericks are reportedly his preferred choice.
