Andre Iguodala: Thunder were NBA’s best team last season

Andre-Iguodala

The Oklahoma City Thunder have had a horrible past month or so. After blowing a 3-1 series lead against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals, the Thunder lost their most important player in franchise history. Simply put, it must sting like nobody’s business.

Andre Iguodala is here to make it sting a little more.

During an appearance on Power 105.1 radio in New York earlier this week, Iguodala said he believes the Thunder were the best team in the NBA playoffs this past season.

“They played us better than anyone,” Iguodala said, as transcribed by ESPN.com. “They played us better than Cleveland. Some of the stuff they was doing, it’s like … ‘Oh, man. We gotta play perfect.'”

For a while, the Thunder made the Warriors look like just another NBA playoff team. We have no idea how they would have fared against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, but Iguodala believes they would have done better than Golden State.

“Now that we got (Kevin Durant), I can say it: They were the best team last year in the league in the playoffs,” he said. “They were better than us. They were better than Cleveland. They were the best team in the playoffs. They should’ve won a championship.”

Now that Durant is gone, Thunder fans must hate to hear that. If they’re looking for comic relief, Enes Kanter might be able to provide it.

Durant said his decision was based strictly on basketball, so he must disagree with Iguodala. If he felt the same way, he would have stayed in OKC.
