Anthony Davis injures back diving into stands (Video)

The Pelicans lost to the Pacers 91-86 on Friday. However, many around New Orleans were more concerned with the health of Anthony Davis instead of the final score of the game.

During the first quarter, Anthony Davis tracked down a loose ball to save it and dove over the first row after doing so. Davis reached for his back walking back up the floor and would leave the game with what was called a back contusion by the team.

To say the Pelicans have been hit hard by injuries so far this season would be an understatement. Tyreke Evans underwent knee surgery in October and didn’t make his debut until December 1. Norris Cole played his first game of the season on the same day after suffering an ankle sprain. Quincy Pondexter had surgery on his left knee in May and has yet to appear in a game since.

As for Davis, he has already missed games this season with hip and shoulder injuries. Hopefully, Friday’s awkward fall doesn’t result in one of the NBA’s brightest young stars missing anymore time.
