Ben Simmons cleared for 5-on-5 work

Ben Simmons

There is finally some positive news about Ben Simmons’ recovery from a broken foot.

Simmons was finally cleared for 5-on-5 work after receiving a clean scan on his foot Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

The No. 1 overall pick from last year is unlikely to play in the NBA Summer League this year unlike last year, per Windhorst. Sixers head coach Brett Brown said on Tuesday that he thought it would be good for Simmons to play in the summer league, but it sounds like the point guard will not.

Simmons released an “Uninterrupted” video Tuesday night and reflected on his missed season for the Philadelphia 76ers.

“Obviously I did not have the season that I wanted to, but I learned a lot this season,” Simmons said on an Uninterrupted video. “I had a setback and it made me realize I have a lot of work to do. It gave me a learning opportunity that most guys don’t get. It’s like a redshirt season.”

Philly fans have to be looking forward to next season with the possibility of Simmons and Joel Embiid on the court together.
