Report: Bulls players did not endorse Tom Thibodeau

Tom Thibodeau

Barring an unexpected turn of events, the Chicago Bulls will soon part ways with head coach Tom Thibodeau. It is well known throughout the league that Thibodeau and the team’s management do not get along, but what about the players?

Thibodeau has taken the Bulls to the playoffs in each of his five seasons as coach, often having to do so without Derrick Rose. Despite that, a report indicates his players aren’t exactly rallying for him to stick around.

According to the Chicago Tribune, several players “didn’t endorse Thibodeau’s return in exit meetings with management.”

The Bulls players were reportedly told recently that Thibodeau would not be back next season, which is apparently a move most of them are in favor of.

One of the issues Thibodeau has had with the Bulls is that upper management doesn’t agree with his offensive schemes and the way he rotates players. Critics have often said that Thibodeau doesn’t give players enough rest, and Joakim Noah alluded to that two seasons ago.

At this point, you can only hope the report about the Bulls screwing Thibodeau over intentionally is untrue. Everyone knows the team is looking to dump him, so the Bulls aren’t going to get any value in return for the coach. Just fire the guy and move on.
