Would Carmelo Anthony accept trade to Portland as backup option?
Amazingly, the Portland Trail Blazers’ persistence in recruiting Carmelo Anthony may actually end up paying off.
According to a report by FOX Sports’ Jason McIntyre on Thursday, Anthony’s camp is attempting a Hail Mary to get him to the Houston Rockets before the star forward accepts a trade to Portland.
Carmelo Anthony's people are trying a Hail Mary attempt to get him to Houston (Knicks won't do it) … before he accepts a deal to Portland

While Houston has long been Anthony’s preferred destination, the Blazers, namely guards Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, have been putting the full-court press on the ex-scoring champ this summer, hoping to convince him to approve a move to Portland. Lillard also recently had some notable comments about Anthony’s receptiveness to their recruiting pitch.
Melo on the Blazers always seemed like something of a pipe dream, but now it sounds like we can at least start contemplating the possibility of a Big Four of Lillard, McCollum, Anthony, and Jusuf Nurkic (which still wouldn’t be quite good enough to compete with the Warriors but would be fun nevertheless).
