Carmelo Anthony expands his trade wishlist

Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony has expanded his trade wishlist in an effort to make it easier for the New York Knicks to deal him, according to a report.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Anthony this week gave the Knicks a list of teams to whom he would accept a trade. Anthony has a no-trade clause and would like to be traded by the Knicks before the season begins.

His preferred destination has been the Houston Rockets, but New York’s new executives have increased their demands, making a trade there less likely. Accordingly, Anthony has expanded his list to include the Cleveland Cavaliers and at least one other team. There has been some speculation that the other team could be Portland.

Anthony, 33, is owed over $26 million for the upcoming season and has an option for nearly $28 million the season after. There could be some reluctance from the Cavs to acquire ‘Melo knowing he could be on the roster for $28 million with LeBron James no longer on the team.
