Carmelo Anthony reportedly finalizes buyout, will sign with Rockets
It appears to be only a matter of days before Carmelo Anthony is officially a member of the Houston Rockets, as the star forward is expected to be waived by the Atlanta Hawks on Monday.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Anthony has reached a buyout agreement with the Hawks in which he gave back $2.4 million of his salary for next season. That number is equal to the one-year veteran’s minimum contract he is expected to sign with Houston.

The Hawks never had any intention of keeping Anthony, which is likely why he waived his no-trade clause to facilitate the deal. The Rockets have been the favorite to sign Carmelo all along, and it would be a shocking upset if that didn’t happen.
As for how Houston will look with Carmelo on board, that remains to be seen. We know there are some in Las Vegas who seem to think they should steer clear of him.
