Carmelo Anthony says he expects to be involved in Knicks decision-making process

Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony had strong words for the New York Knicks on Tuesday: if you expect me to remain at the core of the organization, you’d better keep me in the loop on the decision-making process.

Anthony made the comments before the Knicks lost to Indiana on Tuesday, a game in which Anthony did not play.

“If I’m going to be a part of this organization and the future of this organization, then I want to be a part of the decision-making in some way shape or form,” Anthony told reporters, via Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

That particularly applies to free agency, it seems, as Anthony often thinks about players he’d like the Knicks to get.

“I’ve looked at the list,” Anthony said. “I look at the list every day.”

Anthony will have an exit interview with Phil Jackson, and he’ll likely be clear with him about this.

“My conversation with them is to be open and honest about what’s going on, about transparency, how we can make this situation better and what we’re going to do to make this situation better,” Anthony said.

“At the end of the day, nobody loves this feeling, nobody wants to lose. We work too hard as players to be in this situation right now. Even though we almost doubled our wins from last year, we made some strides in certain areas. But now we got to continue to build on that.”

Anthony has said publicly that he’s not planning on going anywhere, but he clearly wants some influence within the organization based on these previous comments as well.
