Carmelo Anthony: Report about shoe line ending is ‘false news’

Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony says a report about his shoe line ending is not true.

ESPN’s Nick DePaula reported on Tuesday night that Jordan Brand is ending the Melo shoe series, making last year’s Melo M13 the final one in the line.

Anthony was presented with the news of the report just before speaking with the media after the Oklahoma City Thunder’s preseason game on Tuesday. He called the report “false news.”

Anthony didn’t have much of a chance to digest the report before being asked about it, so his response probably isn’t too surprising.

There have been 13 editions of ‘Melo’s signature shoe, which is one of the longest runs ever for an NBA player. Now ‘Melo is in OKC and will be the third option on a Thunder team. It’s understandable why a supporting player rather than a star would not be getting his own shoe, if that indeed is happening.
