Report: Carmelo Anthony trade talks between Knicks, Rockets are ‘dormant’

Carmelo Anthony

Very little has been said in recent weeks about trade talks between the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets involving Carmelo Anthony, and that is likely because there has been no progress made toward a deal.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said Thursday that the Knicks and Rockets have had no success trying to find a third, and possibly fourth, team to help facilitate a trade for Anthony.

“Carmelo Anthony right now, those talks have been fairly dormant between Houston and New York,” Wojnarowski said, as transcribed by Dan Feldman of Pro Basketball Talk. “They’ve tried to find third, fourth teams – the Rockets have – to help facilitate a deal with Carmelo Anthony. They haven’t been able to do that. And both sides are prepared for the fact that Melo may have to go to camp with the Knick.”

Wojnarowski reported about two weeks ago that the Knicks and Rockets had picked up trade talks again, but it appears there has been no traction.

Anthony is reportedly only willing to waive his no-trade clause for the Rockets. The reason the two sides need at least a third team involved is because Houston essentially has nothing the Knicks want with the assets they had to send to the Los Angeles Clippers for Chris Paul.

We all know what the Knicks’ ideal scenario would be for Anthony, but Carmelo is not going to let that happen. The closer we get to training camp, the more realistic it becomes that Anthony will still be in The Big Apple next season.
