Carmelo Anthony reportedly wants to play for Lakers
Perhaps it should come as no surprise, but one reporter says that Carmelo Anthony would like to play for the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Oklahoma City Thunder and Anthony are expected to part ways, with Anthony either being traded, waived, or bought out. When he becomes available, he apparently would like to go to the Lakers. Yahoo’s Jordan Schultz reported the news and noted Melo’s friendship with LeBron as a factor.
Source close to Carmelo Anthony says the #Lakers are one of Melo’s preferred destinations, and that he's high on chance to finally play with #LeBron. Keep in mind too, that Carmelo owns a house in LA.

This should not come as a surprise, as it was long speculated that Anthony would have interest in joining the Lakers. The Houston Rockets are another team that could contend for Melo.
The big question for Anthony, who will earn just under $28 million next season, is whether he would be willing to assume a role as a bench player. He is a defensive liability on the floor and would likely be asked to shift to a bench role where he could come on for an offensive boost. If he’s unwilling to do that, he might have fewer teams interested in his services.
