Caron Butler would consider coming back to play for Warriors, Cavs or Spurs

Caron Butler won a ring with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, but he may be looking to come out of unofficial retirement so that he can chase another.

In an interview with Adam Caparell of Complex Sports that was published on Wednesday, the former All-Star said that he would consider coming back to play for one of the league’s top contenders.

“I’m only playing if I’m playing for a contender,” said Butler. “There’s only three contenders out there. If I’m not playing on those three teams, then this is what I’m doing and I’m going full throttle.”

Butler was then asked if the three contenders in question were the Golden State Warriors, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the San Antonio Spurs, to which he replied, “Absolutely.”

The now 37-year-old Butler has 14 NBA seasons under his belt and last played for the Sacramento Kings in 2015-16, averaging 3.7 points and 1.3 rebounds per game in 17 appearances. The league has missed his veteran savvy (for better or for worse), but if it’s enough to land him a roster spot on one of the NBA’s elite teams is probably up for debate.
