Celtics troll Sixers on Twitter over premature confetti
The Boston Celtics aren’t letting the Philadelphia 76ers get off easy for their confetti blunder during Game 3 of their second-round playoff series Saturday.
The C’s were up 89-87 with 1.7 seconds left in regulation when Sixers guard Marco Belinelli hit a buzzer-beater from the right corner. Confetti prematurely fell from the Wells Fargo Center rafters to celebrate the victory, but Belinelli actually had a foot on the three-point line upon further review, sending the game into overtime instead. The confetti continued to fall however, and the start of the OT period was delayed for a short period while it was cleaned up.

In a cruel twist of fate, Boston went on to win in overtime by the final of 101-98 to take a 3-0 lead in the series. Later that evening, the Celtics’ official account tweeted out a recap article of the game with a savage caption that trolled the Sixers for the premature drop. Have a look:

The Celtics will go for that sweep on Monday night in Game 4, which will also be played in Philadelphia. It’s definitely hard to imagine though that we will see a more bizarre scene than Saturday’s confetti incident.
