Chris Paul: Deandre Jordan is ‘like my big little brother’

Chris Paul DeAndre Jordan

DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul reportedly did not get along last year, but the issues between them were not significant enough to make Jordan leave the Los Angeles Clippers. Now, Paul is doing his best to put rumors about the tension to rest.

While speaking to the media at the BET NBA Players’ Awards, which will air on Tuesday, Paul said that he speaks to Jordan quite often and considers him like a brother.

“DeAndre, he’s like my big little brother. We talk a lot more than people realize,” Paul said, per Kurt Helin of Pro Basketball Talk. “It doesn’t matter, the only thing that matters is we brought in Paul (Pierce), who I’m probably the happiest about because of his championship pedigree, being that voice in our locker room. We brought in Lance (Stephenson), Wes Johnson, brought Austin (Rivers) back, Josh Smith. Big summer for us.”

It initially looked like Jordan’s relationship with Paul was one of the main reasons the 6-foot-11 center was going to sign with the Dallas Mavericks. However, LeBron James seemed to indicate that CP3 was in contact with Jordan before people realized that Jordan was going to change his mind and remain in L.A.

Paul and Jordan have obviously smoothed things over — at least enough to be able to coexist. It may have been Doc Rivers’ daughter that convinced Jordan to re-sign with the Clippers, but we’re sure DeAndre spoke to CP3 at least once before making a final decision.
