Report: Clippers talking Jimmy Butler trade
The Los Angeles Clippers are reported in trade talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves about Jimmy Butler.
Yahoo’s Chris Haynes reported on Friday that the two Western Conference teams are talking. He says that the Timberwolves’ asking price of players and draft picks has been viewed as too high. Haynes also says the Timberwolves would want to receive Tobias Harris in any trade, though the Clippers are reluctant to part with him.
Harris, who came to the Clippers from Detroit in the Blake Griffin trade, reportedly turned down an $80 million contract extension over the summer. He is set to become a free agent after the upcoming season.
One interesting aspect of Haynes’ report is that he says the Timberwolves still seem reluctant to make a trade, which many attribute to Tom Thibodeau’s seeming belief that he can change Butler’s mind about wanting a trade.
