Danilo Gallinari says he wants to re-sign with Nuggets

Danilo Gallinari is hoping to come to roost in Denver once again this summer.

In a recent interview with BlitzTV, Gallinari said that he would very much like to re-sign with the Nuggets this offseason.

“The relationship between me, the city and the organization is great,” said the Italian forward, per Sportando. “This is the reason why I would love to reach an agreement to remain in Denver. I love it here. And I would love to remain with the Nuggets.”

Gallinari, 28, averaged 18.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game for Denver in 2016-17. He holds a $16.1 million player option for next season that he is expected to decline but has been with the team since he was acquired in 2011 as part of the return package in the Carmelo Anthony-to-New York trade.

The former No. 6 overall pick had to sweat out another trade deadline this year, but he has always remained dedicated to the Nuggets. The days of Gallinari as a primary option in the offense are likely over with the emergence of Nikola Jokic and the influx of young guard talent into Denver. Nonetheless, as a 6-foot-10 shooter and ball-handler who gets to the line at a high rate, the Nuggets could certainly do worse than bringing him back.
