Danny Granger expected to sign with Clippers

danny-grangerFormer Indiana Pacers star Danny Granger was unhappy when he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers last week, and who can blame him? The 31-year-old went from one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference to a non-contender. It quickly became clear that Granger had no interest in playing for the Sixers, and they agreed to buy out his contract.

After he clears waivers, Granger is expected to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers. A source reportedly told ESPN.com that he is hoping to play for LA against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night.

The Clippers traded Byron Mullens and Antawn Jamison in order to make room to bolster their roster with veterans, and they have done just that. Glen Davis signed with LA last week and Granger would also like to play for Doc Rivers. Assuming the move goes through, Granger will be right back to a contending team.

Granger appeared in just 29 games this season for the Pacers as he recovered from knee and calf injuries. He missed all but five games last year and has hardly been the player who averaged more than 20 points per game from 2008 through 2012, but Granger can certainly bring depth to the Clippers if healthy.
