Report: Dario Saric may wind up staying in Turkey next season

At this point, the relationship between the Sixers and forward Dario Saric has turned into the ultimate game of “He loves me, he loves me not.”

According to a report by Tom Moore of the Bucks County Courier Times on Thursday, Saric may not be joining the Sixers for the 2016-17 season after all.

The Croatian forward was expected to make the leap to America this summer from his professional team in Turkey and told reporters in June that everything was trending in that direction. The Sixers had also expressed confidence that Saric would be arriving for the coming campaign.

But by staying in Turkey another year, Saric would not be restricted to a rookie-scale contract from the Sixers and could, in fact, wind up making double that amount. Furthermore, should Saric choose to join Philly this year, he would likely be looking at a limited role off the bench thanks to the positional redundancy and skillset overlap he shares with No. 1 overall draft pick Ben Simmons.

The 20-year-old Saric was selected No. 12 overall by the Sixers in the 2014 Draft. It looks like they may have kill time for yet another season waiting for Saric to play his first game in a Philadelphia uniform.
