Report: DeAndre Jordan considering opting in to facilitate trade to Mavs
There have been indications that DeAndre Jordan and the Dallas Mavericks are willing to leave their very ugly past behind them, and Jordan is reportedly considering the possibility of helping to facilitate a trade that would bring the two sides together.
Marc Stein of the New York Times reports that Jordan could be open to opting into the final season of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, which would pay him $24.1 million for the 2018-2019 season. The motivation behind such a move would be so the Clippers and Mavs could swing a trade for the big man.

One source described a Jordan-to-Dallas trade as a "long shot" … but the fact it's on the board is the strongest indication yet that the sides are willing to engage again after Jordan's about-face in 2015 free agency when he committed to the Mavs and then went back to the Clips https://t.co/RtYuckP40H

Jordan, of course, verbally agreed to a deal with Dallas during the 2015 offseason before having a change of heart and returning to L.A. Mavs owner Mark Cuban was openly furious about how things went down, and the team has taken shots at Jordan over it since.
As we know, the past can quickly be forgotten in professional sports. The Mavs are looking to get back to winning after they traded up to draft Luka Doncic, and Jordan would be a nice addition for them. They’re reportedly open to making it happen, but Jordan should have several other suitors as well.
