Report: DeAndre Jordan’s free agent market will be ‘lukewarm’ if he opts out

DeAndre Jordan

DeAndre Jordan will have one of the more intriguing potential free agencies this summer, but some indications are that it could be a bit of a dud.

Bobby Marks of ESPN reported Saturday that the market for the LA Clippers center will be “lukewarm” if he opts out after the season, noting that the only other teams with room to accommodate him are not feasible destinations.

As noted above, Jordan, 29, has a roughly $24.2 million player option for 2018-19. He is clearly a max-level big man, but the circumstances of his free agency could increase the likelihood that he opts in and remains with the Clippers for another year. Then again, the possibility of having Jordan under contract for an additional season could embolden potential trade suitors before next month’s deadline, like this prominent Eastern Conference team.
