DeAndre Jordan: I ‘love’ Chris Paul

Chris Paul DeAndre Jordan

The love fest between DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul is in full swing.

Earlier this week, Paul tried to dispel rumors of tension between the two Los Angeles Clippers by saying Jordan is like a brother to him. Jordan apparently agrees, as he had nothing but kind things to say about CP3 in a piece he wrote for The Players’ Tribune on Tuesday.

“I love Chris, man. Chris is a big brother to me,” Jordan said. “When you play sports, you’re competitive — especially when you play them at as high a level as we have these last few years. And of course, yeah, we all bump heads during the course of the game. But we know that whatever criticisms or arguments we have on the floor, they’re about one thing: winning.”

I’m sure there were some issues with high-fiving and whatever else between Jordan and Paul, but they obviously sorted it out. That would help explain why CP3 may have known Jordan was staying in L.A. before most others.

In a video interview with The Players Tribune, Jordan spoke about his decision to bail on the Dallas Mavericks.

“The most emotional part of the entire process was when I decided I was going to stay, because I knew I had to upset and let down a whole different fan base,” he said. “That definitely got to me.

“Originally, I said yes to the Mavericks because I thought I needed change. I thought I wanted change at that point in time. … At the end of the day we’re basketball players, we’re great athletes, but we’re also human. We make mistakes and we have emotions and feelings just like everybody else.”

As we mentioned before, Jordan reserved the right to change his mind like anyone else would about a major career decision. The one thing he could have done differently was kept Mark Cuban in the loop instead of making bogus excuses not to meet with him. Had he been open and honest with Cuban, there wouldn’t be much the Mavs owner could say.
