DeMar DeRozan is glad the Lakers rumblings are a thing of the past
DeMar DeRozan is a Compton High grad, a USC product, and a California native. For that reason, with his free agency looming this past summer, he’d been constantly hearing about the Los Angeles Lakers.
When DeRozan put pen to paper on a long-term extension with the Toronto Raptors, though, he could put those links to the Lakers behind him. And he’s not terribly upset about that, either.
His commitment to the Raptors means that he won’t have to hear the rumors about the Lakers anymore. He also told reporters on Monday that he’s not too upset about not having to see himself photoshopped into a Laker jersey anymore, either.
DeRozan said happy no more photoshops of him in a Lakers jersey. Said kids knocked on his door in L.A. with a photoshopped picture.

If it’s any consolation to those enthusiastic Laker fans, the team supposedly wasn’t all that into him anyway. For at least the foreseeable future, he won’t have to hear about going to the Lakers, and he seems quite content with that.
