DeMar DeRozan says he and Kyle Lowry ‘stink right now’

The Toronto Raptors are laboring through their first round series against Indiana, with the second seed and seventh seed tied at two games a piece. Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan is pinning the blame squarely on himself and his backcourt partner Kyle Lowry.

The duo who paced Toronto through the regular season are shooting a combined 30.8 percent from the field through the first four games, and DeRozan admitted that he and Lowry both know that they can’t keep playing the way they are.

“We just stink right now when it comes to me and Kyle,” DeRozan said, via ESPN’s Mike Mazzeo. “We haven’t let it frustrate us. We haven’t complained. We are not whining. It’s all part of the game. You go through your ups and downs, but it’s all about how you figure it out and the process it takes to get out of that. If we do what we are supposed to do, all of this be erased.

“We just have to be better. We are not the players who we are in this league for no reason. Like I said, we all go through some type of lows in our career at some point. You can’t complain when the playoffs come. You can’t do that. You have to be able to take it on the chin and figure it out. We will figure it out the best way we can for our teammates.”

The Pacers have defended Toronto well, as they employ top defenders George Hill and Paul George. DeRozan and Lowry combined to go 8-for-27 from the field in the game four loss, with DeRozan turning the ball over six times. Perhaps his mind really is already in Los Angeles after all.
