DeMar DeRozan: We cannot have too much sympathy for Sixers

demar-derozan

The Sixers have been losing in abundance in recent seasons and this one is certainly no different. Philadelphia has lost 23 of their first 24 games with their next opportunity for a win coming on Sunday against the Raptors.

Toronto came into the season expected to make the playoffs after winning 49 games last season and finishing as the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors are currently 15-9 and, as DeMar DeRozan says, can’t go into Sunday’s game feeling sorry for the Sixers.

“I mean, it sucks to lose, man,” DeRozan said via CBS Sports. “But I can’t imagine it being like that. I had a couple losing years too and it’s really tough mentally. You kind of do, but at the same time, we need a win. We can’t have too much sympathy for them because they want to win too. We can’t allow them to get a win versus us. After we win, we can feel more sorry for them.”

As the losses continue to pile up for the Sixers, it’s certainly easy from the outside looking in to feel sorry for head coach Brett Brown and his team. However, that’s more for us watching at home.

DeRozan has the right mentality for anyone going up against a team they know they are better than. Like he said, the Sixers are playing to win too and letting up can result in a loss. The Lakers are the only team to fall to the Sixers this season and it’s obvious DeRozan doesn’t want his Raptors to join them.
