Report: Derek Fisher’s job may not be safe

Derek-Fisher

Despite the improvement of the New York Knicks this season, Derek Fisher may not be on solid ground.

According to ESPN.com’s Zach Lowe and Brian Windhorst, there have been “rumblings” about Fisher’s position in New York.

“I’m going to wave a yellow flag on Derek Fisher, as well,” Windhorst said on ESPN’s Lowe Post podcast, via ProBasketballTalk, while discussing potential coaching changes. “Just hearing some rumbling that there isn’t a lot of – it’s not all rainbows and lollypops there. Just a yellow flag, not a red flag.”

“I agree with you that there’s some rumblings,” Lowe said. “I haven’t heard them maybe like you have.”

The Knicks have already won more games in 2015-16 than they did during all of the previous season, which was Fisher’s first with the team. They’re markedly improved, and it seems far-fetched that Fisher’s job could actually be under threat. Still, it sounds like there are merely some issues, and Fisher isn’t on the verge of losing his position. If he did, however, there’s at least one player who’d probably be thrilled.
