Derrick Rose to have surgery for torn meniscus in right knee

Derrick Rose

The sad case of Derrick Rose continues to get sadder.

The Chicago Bulls announced Tuesday night that Rose has a torn meniscus in his right knee and will need surgery.

Rose told the team he had pain in his knee so he underwent an MRI which confirmed the tear.

This marks four straight seasons Rose has been unable to complete due to injuries.

Here is the list:

– May 2012: Torn ACL in left knee
– Misses entire 2013 season
– Nov. 2013: Torn meniscus in right knee – misses rest of season
– Feb. 2015: Torn meniscus in right knee

Many were outraged by Rose’s comments in November saying that he is concerned about his long-term health. After seeing what the poor guy has gone through the past four seasons, it’s hard to blame him for keeping that in mind. Much like Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway and Brandon Roy, Rose’s career is looking like it will never amount to what it could have been because of injuries.

The only good news to emerge out of all this is that Bulls reporter K.C. Johnson says the extent of the tear is not as bad as the previous one.

Some have speculated that Rose did not look right on this play during the Bulls’ win over the Bucks Monday:
