Donald Sterling preparing to hire lawyer to sue NBA

Donald SterlingStraight from the department of “Headlines you never saw coming,” is this story.

Donald Sterling is shopping around for lawyers who will help him sue the NBA for banning him for life and attempting to push him out as an owner, TMZ reports. They say Sterling has talked with firms Glaser Weil as well as Quinn Emanuel Urquhart and Sullivan.

The NBA last week announced its punishment of Sterling, which included the maximum fine of $2.5 million. They also banned him from the league for life. Reports also said the league would look to push Sterling out as an owner.

Everyone knew that Sterling would not go quietly. The man has a litigious history and would never lose his prized possession without a legal fight, especially one where he has serious grounds to defend himself. Just think about the situation: Sterling is being forced out and suspended over what he said in a private recording that may or may not have been obtained via illegal means. People are already lining up to make an offer to purchase a team that still has an owner. You better believe that the Sterling family will do what it can to block a sale. This could go on for years.
