Draymond Green files to trademark ‘Hampton 5’

Draymond Green

Draymond Green isn’t just a wise basketball player; he’s also a smart businessman.

Green filed to trademark the phrase “Hampton 5,” which is a term pertaining to his Golden State Warriors. TMZ Sports says Money 23 Green Enterprises filed for the trademark last year.

Hampton 5 is the nickname for Green, Steph Curry, Andre Iguodala, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant. Bay Area sports writer Tim Kawakami is believed to have coined the phrase, which got its name because the four aforementioned players were the ones who traveled to the Hamptons to recruit Durant two summers ago. Their efforts obviously succeeded and resulted in a championship last year.

What’s impressive about Green’s move is that he filed for the trademark last year, and the nickname really just started picking up steam recently.
