Draymond Green weighs in on Michigan State scandal (Video)

Draymond Green

After a tumultuous week at Michigan State, some of the school’s prominent alumni have begun to weigh in on the events and scandal that have shaken the university.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, who played for the Spartans from 2008 to 2012, is one of the more outspoken athletes around, so it was no surprise that he had some thoughts on the sexual assault discussion that has come to light.

“As a die-hard Spartan fan, as an alumnus, as a supporter, I wish those who were affected, touched by it, broken by it, shaken, whatever it did to you, I wish them well in their recovery. Because it touches everybody in a different way,” Green said Saturday, via ESPN. “Whether you’re a supporter and it kills your pride or whether you’re a victim and you’re going through the things that you’re going through.”

Green did offer his support to football coach Mark Dantonio and basketball coach Tom Izzo, who have been spotlighted for their lack of transparency and inadequate responses to sexual assault in their respective programs.

“I offer my support to Coach Dantonio and Coach Izzo in their efforts to rebuild and to help the victims in any way that they can,” Green said. “They say the true test of a man is what he does in a time of adversity. I know those two guys will stand up and do whatever they can to help. I look forward to helping in any way I can. Those affected, supporters, most importantly, the victims, any way I can help, I look forward to that.”

For now, the major remaining names are staying in place at Michigan State as we try to find out what everyone knew and when they knew it. Only time will tell where the programs go from here.
