Draymond Green takes plea deal in assault case

Draymond-Green

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has reached a plea deal in his assault case and will not face jail time for the recent incident.

Officials announced Friday that Green’s charges have been reduced to a noise violation, for which he will have to pay a $500 fine, according to Christopher Haxel of the Lansing State Journal. He is also ordered not to contact alleged victim Jermaine Edmondson for a year. If he does, or if he is convicted of a new charge within that timeframe, the original assault charge would return.

“The plea agreement reached with Mr. Green is in accordance with our normal plea bargain procedures and guidelines for a case with similar circumstances, evidence and witness statements,” assistant city prosecutor Meyers said. “We simply treated Mr. Green no differently than any other defendant that we prosecute.”

Green was arrested on July 10, and he allegedly taunted Edmondson, a Michigan State defensive back. The fact that Green dealt with things so quickly will come as a a relief with the Olympics on the horizon.
