Dwyane Wade responds to speculation he was hungover

Dwyane Wade really face

Dwyane Wade responded on Friday to speculation that he did not start the Miami Heat’s game against the Dallas Mavericks on New Year’s Day because he was hungover.

Here’s the tweet he sent, which also happened to promote his wine brand, which he started over the summer:

Wade said he felt sick after warmups, which led to him coming off the bench for only the 10th time in his career.

“I was a little dehydrated, so I got IVs. Came back in the second quarter,” Wade said after the game.

He says he watched the first quarter from the locker room.

“It was all good. I felt a lot better once I got the IV fluids in me. I was able to come out in the second quarter and play.”

Wade only played 19 minutes in the contest, but he was sharp. He made 5-of-6 shots for 10 points and seven assists in Miami’s 106-82 win. If that’s how he plays when he’s “hungover,” the Heat will probably take it.
