Elena Delle Donne hoping to play Friday despite knee injury
Elena Delle Donne is hopeful about playing in Friday’s Game 3 of the Washington Mystics’ semifinals series against the Atlanta Dream despite suffering a knee injury on Tuesday.
Delle Donne exited Game 2 on Tuesday with just over three minutes remaining in the game after taking a spill and injuring her knee. The Mystics star needed to be helped off the court and did not return.
Though the injury looked bad at first, Delle Donne says the swelling isn’t too bad and that she’s hoping to play on Friday.
Elena Delle Donne shared her thoughts with us via Mystics' media relations: “I mean, I’m walking. The swelling isn’t terrible. I’ll go home tomorrow and see our doctors, and see what they say. But I’m hopeful to be back in the lineup Friday."

Though Delle Donne is optimistic, which is encouraging, the real test will come when she sees her doctors. That’s when her status will truly be determined.
