Elena Delle Donne gives awesome quote about her knee injury
Elena Delle Donne gave an awesome quote about her knee injury on Friday night.
Delle Donne had just 10 points and 7 rebounds in 24 minutes of her Washington Mystics’ Game 1 loss to the Seattle Storm in the WNBA Finals. That’s far below the forward’s averages of 20.7 points and 7.2 rebounds in 32.2 minutes per game during the regular season.
A knee injury suffered in the semifinals against Atlanta is likely to blame for her dropoff in play, but she’s not about to say that. Why? Because according to Delle Donne, “excuses are for losers.”
Asked how close to 100% her knee is, Elena Delle Donne said: "Let’s talk about my knee after this series. Excuses are for losers. If I wanted to be 100 percent, I wouldn’t have come back. I knew coming into this thing, I was going to have to figure out a different way to play."

Delle Donne is only shooting 38 percent and averaging 13 points per game since the knee injury. In her three prior games, she shot 49 percent and averaged 26 points per game. Even though she won’t say it, we’ll let the stats speak for themselves regarding her knee.
