Enes Kanter sends cryptic tweet in wake of Carmelo Anthony-Thunder rumors

Enes Kanter seems to be feeling the heat in the wake of rumors that Carmelo Anthony could be Oklahoma City-bound.

The Thunder big man posted a cryptic tweet of a thinking face emoji on Friday night after news broke that OKC was on Anthony’s expanded trade wishlist.

Though Kanter has been going out of his way to demonstrate his loyalty to the Thunder lately, he seems like their most logical trade chip. Russell Westbrook, the newly-acquired Paul George, Steven Adams, and the newly-re-signed Andre Roberson are all core pieces, and the 25-year-old Kanter, a tenacious low-post scorer and rebounder, is the next most valuable asset on their roster. Sending out Kanter’s semi-sizable contract (two years, $36.5 million left) may be the only realistic way for Oklahoma City to make the numbers work as well.

Granted, the Thunder are not the only major contenders for Anthony. But it’s hard to blame Kanter if he’s feeling a bit uneasy about his future right now.
