Enes Kanter challenges LeBron to sign with Knicks

A recent report stating that the New York Knicks were clearing salary cap space for LeBron James was met with ridicule, but one of their players is acting on that thought.

Enes Kanter filmed a video that he posted on Twitter Monday in which he challenged James to come to the Knicks to prove he is the king of New York.

“Hey LeBron, yes, you really want to be king of New York? Come and prove it. I’ll see you July 1st, brother. Good luck,” Kanter said in the video.

Back in November, James posted a photo on Instagram that seemed to hint at his feeling of ownership of Madison Square Garden.

He called himself king of New York in his caption, using a crown emoji to signify king.

What’s interesting is that Kanter stood up to LeBron when their teams faced each other in November. Kanter’s willingness to stand up to James probably caught LeBron’s attention as the type of teammate he’d want to have.

LeBron has said the billboards recruiting him to New York were flattering, but it’s highly unlikely he would sign with the Knicks.
