Enes Kanter: Thunder were better, played harder than Warriors in WCF

Enes Kanter Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s collapse to the Golden State Warriors in last year’s Western Conference Finals won’t soon be forgotten by any of their players, especially center Enes Kanter.

In a recent interview with Scooby Axson of Sports Illustrated, Kanter said losing that series hurt especially because OKC knew they were the better team.

“It was definitely frustrating because I remember after the game, I looked and a lot of people were crying in the locker room,” he said. “And you went that far and we knew that we were the better team and we played harder. But it’s a seven-game series. We will always remember that it’s a seven-game series.”

Of course, Oklahoma City blowing that 3-1 lead eventually resulted in Kevin Durant skipping town to join those very same Warriors (something Kanter wasn’t shy about expressing his displeasure over). As such, Kanter and the Thunder are sure to carry that feeling of disappointment and bitterness with them for a long time to come.
