Report: Gerald Green threw punch, was handcuffed during incident

Gerald Green Heat

Gerald Green was suspended two games by the Miami Heat for conduct detrimental to the team related to an incident that led to his hospitalization last week, and now some details about the matter have emerged.

According to the police report via TMZ, Green showed up at the front desk of his condo complex with bloody hands. He asked a clerk there to call an ambulance. Green then reportedly walked outside and collapsed. He then got up, went back inside and tried to go to his condo, but he was blocked by security. Green then allegedly punched a security guard in the face as a result.

Green was said to be yelling and combative. He was eventually restrained, handcuffed, and taken to the hospital. The 911 audio from the incident gives you an idea of the scene (listen here).

“I want to apologize to my family, fans and the Heat organization. I accept the suspension and look forward to rejoining my teammates this weekend,” Green said in a statement issued via the team.

Green, 29, is averaging 10.3 points per game this season, though he has only played in three games.
