The Boston Celtics received some good news regarding Gordon Hayward’s recovery from a fractured fibula.
Hayward took another step towards a full recovery from the gruesome injury he suffered during the Celtics’ first game of the season. On Wednesday, the team announced that Hayward’s surgery to remove the plate and screws that were inserted into his leg following his injury was successful. Despite losing their big free agent addition in their first game, the Celtics exceeded everyone’s expectation this season. They finished with the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference and took the Cavaliers to seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals. With a healthy Hayward and Kyrie Irving to go along with Al Horford, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, Boston looks set finish at or near the top of the East again next season.
