Clippers, Heat reportedly tracking Carlos Boozer in China

Could The Carlos Boozer Comeback Tour soon be hitting the road?

According to a report by ESPN’s Marc Stein on Saturday, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Miami Heat are tracking the progress of former All-Star big man Carlos Boozer, who is currently averaging 17.2 points and 10.6 rebounds per game playing for the Guandong Southern Tigers in China.

The 35-year-old Boozer hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2014-15 season when he averaged 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for the Los Angeles Lakers. Boozer doesn’t exactly have the skillset of a modern power forward and is a near-zero on the defensive end. But the Heat are down to their third-string PF with the respective health situations of Chris Bosh and Josh McRoberts, and the Clippers don’t really have a true backup to Blake Griffin with Marreese Speights playing more of a stretch five role for them this year.

Stein does add that Boozer could run into a scheduling conflict if Guandong advances to the championship series in China. But he would be eligible to play in the NBA postseason, having not been on a roster all season. Plus, who wouldn’t love to have those celebrations back in the Association?
