Houston Rockets’ Twitter account suspended
The Houston Rockets’ Twitter account got suspended on Monday, joining many other athletic programs to have their accounts suspended.
The Rockets’ account, which has 2.8 million followers, was dark, with a message on the profile from Twitter saying the account had been suspended.

No specific reason was given for the suspension, though there is suspicion it may be related to copyright violations, which is something that has gotten many other programs suspended from Twitter in the past.
Over the weekend, Iowa and Iowa State’s football accounts were suspended. Auburn Football and Rutgers Football are other accounts that were suspended Monday. Some of the suspensions were due to copyright violations that included the use of music in video packages shared on Twitter.
The last time we had a story on the Rockets’ Twitter account, it was in 2015 when they fired the person running it due to an inappropriate tweet. The team still has a significant social media presence on Facebook with 12.2 million likes and Instagram, where they have 3.6 million followers, though they did not address the Twitter suspension on either account.
