Isaiah Thomas went off after inspirational pregame text from Allen Iverson
Isaiah Thomas singlehandedly dragged his Boston Celtics back into the series with a 42 point showing Friday night, but he had a secret weapon in his back pocket: Allen Iverson.
Thomas divulged after Boston’s 111-103 win that he’d received texts from Iverson as well as his namesake, Isiah Thomas, motivating him for the game.
“Allen Iverson just said, ‘Keep fighting; (the Hawks) did what they were supposed to do in Atlanta, now it’s time for you guys to take advantage of being at home,” Thomas told reporters, via Kevin Duffy of MassLive. “Isiah Thomas just gave me a few tips I can’t tell you guys about.”
Isiah Thomas helping the Celtics in a playoff game? My, how times have changed.
Anyway, you can’t argue with results, and Thomas’s career high points tally certainly represents results. Perhaps AI had a role in motivating him. Hopefully AI didn’t have a role in pushing him to do this, though.
