James Harden angry after fan shined laser pointer at his eyes

James Harden was the target of a fan’s laser pointer on Monday night, and he wasn’t happy about it.

During Monday’s game at Utah, a fan shined a laser pointer in Harden’s eyes as he was preparing to shoot a free throw. A referee noticed, and Harden, clearly unhappy, made like he was going to throw the basketball in the direction of the fan.

The fan in question was banned by the league for a year, and Harden sounded off on the incident Wednesday.

“That’s just disrespectful, not just to a basketball player, anybody,” Harden said, via ESPN.com’s Calvin Watkins. “Whoever that guys was he wouldn’t want to be lasered in the face, so that was disrespectful. It’s not my call [on the fan being banned], I’m just trying not to get blind.

“It’s a NBA game, you got fans trying to watch some good basketball games, really talented, blessed basketball players out there on the court and you’re trying to laser them, that’s just crazy.”

Harden has every reason to be upset. It’s dangerous and stupid, and you can hardly blame him for the reaction.
