James Harden says ‘no beef’ with Dwight Howard after rocky Houston tenure
James Harden and Dwight Howard dealt with constant rumors about how well they got along during their time together in Houston, but Harden insists there is no problem.
Harden’s Rockets will face off with Howard’s new team, the Atlanta Hawks, on Saturday, and Harden maintains that there is no ill will between the two, saying that they’re “cool.”
“It didn’t bother me,” Harden said of how their relationship was perceived, via Calvin Watkins of ESPN. “I know what the truth is, it’s no beef. We never got into a heated argument. It just didn’t work out.
“Trust me, if we knew [why it didn’t], it would have worked out.”
The relationship between the pair was characterized as “cordially bad.” Harden disputes this. It really sounds more like two guys who just couldn’t gel on and off the court, and they accept that it’s easiest to just move on.
