James Harden does not think Rockets need to make a move

James Harden Rockets

James Harden does not think the Houston Rockets need to add any pieces during the offseason to make them a championship contender.

The Rockets finished with the best record in the NBA during the regular season. However, they fell short of their ultimate goal of winning a championship at the hands of the Golden State Warriors, who defeated Houston in seven games in the Western Conference Finals. Many feel the Rockets would have advanced to the finals had Chris Paul not sustained a hamstring injury during Game 5 of the series.

James Harden, who on Monday was named MVP for the 2017-2018 season, cited good health as more important than adding another piece (or more) to the Rockets’ roster.

Whether or not the Rockets stand pat remains to be seen. GM Daryl Morey has been known to pull a rabbit out of his hat in the past, like he did last summer with Paul. Given the possibility of LeBron James being a free agent, one would have to think Morey would make sure his name is on the conversation (though the outlook on that is not great). However, if the Rockets don’t land a big fish (or a smaller one), Harden would be perfectly fine giving it another shot with the current team.
