Jayson Tatum reportedly turned away from nightclub in Los Angeles

Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum is having a fantastic rookie season and looks like he may have been the steal of the NBA Draft, but the first-round pick learned this week that nightclubs may not be willing to overlook his age just because he’s a budding NBA star.

With the Boston Celtics in Los Angeles to face the Clippers on Wednesday, Tatum tried to join some teammates for a night out at Warwick in Hollywood. A TMZ photographer was outside the club at the time, and apparently the 19-year-old Tatum was denied access since Warwick is a 21-plus establishment.

Rules are rules, young man.

As TMZ notes, Warwick is the same Hollywood club that turned D’Angelo Russell away when he was playing for the Lakers and just months short of his 21st birthday, so apparently they take the age requirement seriously. We’ve seen pro athletes turned away from bars and restaurants for some questionable reasons in the past, but it’s fair to say Tatum’s stonewalling was warranted.
