Jimmer Fredette hoping for another chance in NBA

Former BYU star Jimmer Fredette isn’t prepared to give up on his NBA career just yet.

Fredette, now playing in China, plans to compete in the Basketball Tournament — a $2 million winner-take-all summer event — and hopes to use that, as well as his accomplishments in China, to earn another chance in the NBA.

“I would always love to get another chance in the NBA,” Fredette told Myron Medcalf of ESPN. “I’ve gotten better in China and improved every year. … You hope somebody takes notice.”

Fredette thinks his time in China has improved him and helped him mature, and that he will honor the final year of his contract there before attempting to land in the NBA next season.

Jimmer’s last NBA minutes came in 2015-16, when he played very briefly in six games for the New Orleans Pelicans and New York Knicks. He’s certainly been getting it done in China, so maybe someone will want to pick him up on the back of those performances.
