Joel Embiid wants LeBron to pull a DeAndre Jordan, bail on Lakers

Joel Embiid

The Golden State Warriors reminded everyone on Monday that they are still the team to beat in the Western Conference, and Joel Embiid wants LeBron James to know it’s not too late to run away from them.

Shortly after news surfaced that DeMarcus Cousins is signing with the Warriors, Embiid sent a couple of tweets that were clearly directed at LeBron. In one of them, he suggested LeBron should bail on the Lakers.

Free agents can’t officially sign contracts until July 7, and Embiid is referring to the crazy situation that unfolded between DeAndre Jordan and the Dallas Mavericks several years ago. Jordan had verbally agreed to a deal with Dallas before deciding to remain with the Los Angeles Clippers, and the entire ordeal turned into a soap opera. The hard feelings didn’t last, however, as Jordan has agreed to a one-year deal with the Mavs this offseason.

LeBron obviously isn’t going to change his mind, but a lot of people are thinking the same thing Embiid was. James seemingly had a feee pass to the NBA Finals every season, and now he has to go up against teams like the Warriors and Houston Rockets before he can get back there. The Lakers have added some nice pieces since they reached a deal with LeBron, but it doesn’t seem like enough to topple Golden State.
