John Wall wrist injury – It’s ‘badly swollen,’ but he’ll play

John-Wall-wrist

Washington Wizards star point guard John Wall fell awkwardly on his wrist during a Game 1 win over the Atlanta Hawks, but the injury will not keep him out of Game 2 on Tuesday night.

J. Michael of CSNWashington.com reports that Wall will play in Game 2, though he described the 24-year-old’s wrist as “badly swollen.”

Fortunately, it is Wall’s left wrist that is injured. He shoots right-handed, so a similar injury to the other arm might have forced him to miss some time. Here’s a video of the play from Game 1:

The Wizards have yet to lose a playoff game this season and suddenly look like an NBA Finals contender. Wall has been a big reason for that, as he is averaging 17.4 points and an eye-popping 12.6 assists this postseason. Plus, he somehow got away with this play during his team’s series-clinching win over the Toronto Raptors.

Washington needs Wall in the lineup.

UPDATE: Wall ended up being ruled out for the game.
